Future of PHITE
Well, since I wrote PHITE a couple of years ago it has been used and appreciated by many people -- over 3000 downloads, currently sitting at a respectable 64% activity on Sourceforge and loads of sites using it (a Google of the string "sitesig=" will give you a good estimate of some of the users). People like it because it's small, fast, easy to set up, works on most cheap hosting set-ups and easy to understand. It is quite flexible, and a decent PHP programmer can easily add to it.
What it isn't is a fully-fledged CMS or Community system (I recommend Mambo or PostNuke for those, respectively).
But, beople love it, and the release has been really stable. I've been up to my eyes building a new company, and while I've been promising a 1.0 release for over a year (and have the code...) I haven't been able to get it tested and out. So...
Should PHITE just die (well, not grow any more) or should someone take it over and make it better? Should that person be you (or a bunch of you)?
Obviously PHITE is GPL, so anyone who wants to fork it is welcome to, but if there was a way to 'hand over the torch' then I'd be very happy to (I even have phite.org registered if anyone wanted it poined somewhere).
Please use this thread at Sourceforge https://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1180478&forum_id=152411 if you are interested in discussing the future of PHITE!
