The new version of the monitoring and performance measurement program introduces plugins. You can now use your favorite protocol from echoping, just by writing a plugin.

echoping 6 released
The main change is the introduction of plugins. No need to modify the source code and to bloat it further, you can now develop a plugin outside of echoping's source code.
Plugins for PostgreSQL, LDAP and whois are now shipped.
Do note that echoping now requires the popt library.

echoping 5.0 released
This new version, after more than 18 months of inactivity, is the first one to support IPv6 since it uses the new Unix socket interface.

Available from SourceForge or from <ftp://ftp.internatif.org/pub/unix/echoping/>. SSL (cryptography) support for Web requests, introduced in 4.0, seems now OK.
