Project News for SpyAmp

  • Winamp 5 works

I've been informed that SpyAmp 1.6.3 works great with Winamp 5, so you should use that version instead of SpyAmp 2.x if you use Winamp 5.

  • Winamp 5 issues

It has been reported that SpyAmp will crash on Winamp 5.x when someone tries to download a song. I do not have the time or motivation to fix this, so my advice is to disable song downloading in the SpyAmp configuration if you use winamp 5.x.

  • Project status

It's been a long time since the last update, and it's likely that it'll take a lot longer before the next one. First, I've lost interest in the project, mostly because I've switched from Windows to Linux on my workstations. Second, I'll be going into military service this spring, and that'll last until December 2003, leaving me very little time for computer work. The good news is that SpyAmp is open source and that anyone can fork the project as long as they release the source code under the GPL license like I did myself. Be aware, though, that some experience with C programming is required to avoid introducing security holes. Almost all the code I've received from non-C-programmers so far have introduced potential security holes, or at least made it possible to crash Spyamp along with Winamp remotely. Oh, and Merry Christmas to you all, and thanks for using my software :-)

  • 1.6.3 for Winamp 2

I've released version 1.6.3 to fix a few small bugs. Meanwhile I've received more patches from Sam Allen to get new features (support for multiple playlists and 206 partial content), so a 2.0.3 release is on its way.

  • 2.0.2 for Winamp3

We have Winamp3 support! Version 2.0.2 has been released, it works with Winamp3 only. Be aware that the code is beta quality, and remember to read the documentation before reporting bugs. Enjoy.
