Pentaho BI Suite CE 3.0 RC2 Available
The 3.0.0 Release Candidate 2 version of the Pentaho BI Suite Community Edition (CE) is available for download.
New in 3.0:
* Platform Plug in architecture - easier to created plugins and extend the platform framework
* CDF (Community Dashboard Framework) is now a standard part of the platform
- contribution thanks to Pedro Alves (Webdetails.pt), Ingo Klose (SHS VIVEON AG), Tom Barber and others...

NOTE:
This is a release candidate of the Community Edition product. A release candidate (RC) has the potential
to be a final product, ready to release unless fatal bugs emerge. All features are complete and no fatal
errors are known. An RC gives the community one last chance to test and find any major issues before the
release is marked as stable. An RC is not production quality but is ready for acceptance testing if you
are upgrading an existing sever.

* Visualization improvements: hop color scheme augmented with mini-icons over hops, tooltips (more intuitive)

Pentaho Report Designer - Citrus Milestone 1 is now available for download.
NOTE: The Citrus release name means we don't know what the release number will be yet. It
will likely be after 2.1

This milestone is meant for people already familiar with the Pentaho Report Designer (PRD) and who would like to provide feedback early in the development cycle. Users unfamiliar with PRD or who are evaluating Pentaho should download the latest stable build.

The 2.0.0 version of the Pentaho BI Suite Community Edition (CE) is stable and available for download.
New in 2.0:
* New User Interface - The Pentaho User Console offer centralized access to all reports, analysis and dashboards.
Users can interact with, share, or even create new BI content with a few simple clicks. A customizable and embeddable AJAX-based thin client UI easily integrates with third-party portals.
* Intuitive Navigation and Scheduling – The familiar Explorer-style navigation interface and graphical scheduling
let users leverage existing computing skills to get work done without product training.
* Easy Access to Data Sources – The Pentaho Data Source Catalog centralizes data source management, providing
access to multiple source systems while insulating users from the complexity of underlying application server
and database connections. Administrators can centrally define, maintain and secure all available connections.
* New Administration Console - Help set up and administer the BI Server.
* Faster Analytic Queries – The Pentaho Aggregation Designer analyzes database structures and OLAP schemas, automatically generating aggregate tables that improve performance when working with larger datasets. NOTE:
A stable release of CE software means that it has been available as one or more Release Candidate (RC)
builds for a reasonable period of time and has been tested by the Pentaho community and unit tested by
Pentaho QA. Once a CE build is marked "stable", the testing phase is over and that will be the last
build for that version. While it has not gone through the kind of testing and quality assurance that
Pentaho employs for an Enterprise Edition GA release, it is considered a stable release and is suitable for
development and experimentation.
