Project News for SMTPAuth

  • SMTPAuth 2.01 released

Today I've uploaded SMTPAuth 2.01 to the SourceForge release system. This build many contains a fix causing problems with the German provider 1&1. It also contains some small bugfixes.

The bug was that some server information were not handled like described in the SMTP standard. Nevertheless it worked for most mail clients but some mail clients get stuck because of the wrong information they got and failed.

Version 2.01 should now solve these problems.

  • Source code released

As the most important step on the way to Open-Source, we have today released the first public version of the source code.
The used license for it is the LGPL (GNU Lesser General Public License) which is available under http://www.gnu.org//licenses/lgpl.html
The code is available for download at http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=115489
To use this source code, you need Borland Delphi and the Internet Component Suite (http://www.overbyte.be) which is also Open-Source.

The newest source code will always be available through CVS.
To look for the code you can use any CVS client like TortoiseCVS (http://www.tortoisecvs.org) or the Web-Client at http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/smtpauth/SMTPAuth/

There are currently the floowing limitations for the source code:
    - Some names for variables and function names are still in German. They will all be changed to English names in the next time.
    - The used component to encrypt the passwords is not Open-Source. All links to it has been removed from the source release. If you use a compiled source release than your password won't be stored encrypted.
