Fluxbox

No idea, but I'm having the same issue. Looked at init, but nothing
looked like the obvious setting to change.

Anyone?

Sorry to reply to my own message, but I found the answer. The Debian
XF86Config file had two sections for the mouse. Configured mouse and
Generic mouse. The new fluxbox was reading the input and doubling it.

When I edited out one section for the mouse, I fixed the problem.

good to know but fluxbox isnt using both .. all "we" know is that
buttons 4/5 or pressed or not. by whom, we dont have a clue :) thats
the job of the xserver. maybe some xorg-users can confirm this
"double" behavior or not?

It turned out to not be a fluxbox issue at all, because it was also
happening with openbox. When I googled openbox scroll desktops, I found
the fix.

So my too-early-in-the-morning-no-coffee-yet guess is that fluxbox was
only seeing the mouse click, but because X was supposedly set up for two
mice, it was sending one click as two. Bad X! Bad! :hits in noee with
rolled-up newspaper:
