Yeah, I know that Debian has a thing about doing it
their way and it does cause a lot of confusion when
googling for solutions. It just happens to be the
distro I started using when changing over to linux two
years ago. Look, I can download mozilla-mplayer=3.31
from debian packages sid and probably lesser version
from sarge or testing without bothering my Kubuntu
specific sources.list and possibly breaking my OS.
Just say which one you think will do the job and I'll
install it. If if doesn't break too many packages, and
it works, I'll just put a hold on it until Kubuntu
catches up. If that's all it takes for a solution I
can handle it without too much trouble.

It's there as shown below:

Maybe I need to go over all the conf files again or go
back to a local setup instead of the global one now
using. There are some line entries in
mplayerplug-in.conf that I'm not sure of and I have
read the sourceforge list. My
/etc/mplayerplug-in.conf is below:

Well, OK, but about plugins says its installed
properly. But Debian does make you do a lot of manual
setting up of things which is why I went to Kubuntu
for user friendliness. I'm guessing there's still a
setup issue somewhere, maybe a missing symlnk to
/usr/lib/mozillla/plugins or something in
$HOME/.mozilla/plugins, etc that the Debian/Kubuntu
forgot to do. Seems those were the problem in the
past.

Had to reinstall firefox as had removed in case of
conflicts with mozilla. It did start from konsole but
with a long list of errors shown below:
I actuall finished this email with firefox and played
an embedded video with it to see if it still worked.
It did pop up the mplayerplug-in and went thru its
routine of loading, buffering, etc an played the
fixodent toothpaste ad video but didn't play the
selected video as it did before I started messing with
the system to get mozilla to play embedds. Guess I
need to do an aptitude -f install and see what it
says, but too late tonight(~ 3 am), will chech out
tomorrow. Hope this long response doesn't ruin your
eyes as it is mine and maybe give you some clues for a
solution. Thanks for your continued help.
