I like the purpleness. The shape almost seems a little creepy to me...
somewhat alien. Colored dots for status don't seem like an improvement on
what we have now. I REALLY like gray for inactive, and I'm ok with some sort
of icon for away. The mobile icon doesn't seem very clear to me.
FYI there are emoticons at http://tango.freedesktop.org/Tango_Icon_Gallery
that we could use. Although I'm not sure there are enough icons to cover even
one of our protocols completely.
