The VXL Project

Hi Marcus,

I decided not to include .tgz's for a couple of reasons. Most users
download the zipped version, and as far as I know it's relatively easy
to unzip from most platforms. I'd be happy to add the tgzs into future
releases if there was demand for it - but you're the first person to
mention it actually ...

It's not the end of the world and usually zip files are fine.  The only 
time I've had issues has been when the zip files were improperly 
created.  The one for 1.9.0 worked fine so no problems so far.

Looks fine to me.  I'd prefer to change "deval" to "deriv_eval" or
"eval_deriv" or some such.  Do you object, or else, have a suggestion?

I think I chose "deval" to be shorter but consistent with 
vnl_real_polynomial which uses "devaluate".  At any rate, I don't really 
care too much about the name.

Would you like me to make a new patch with a different function name?

Makes sense.  deval stays, then.  I know the original had no
documentation, but could you add documentation as to what the various
deval routines evaluate?  Partial derivative w.r.t i, etc.

Let's keep the function name, but a new patch with comments would be
appreciated.
