I think for rect the plan is to put the "roundness ratio" tool options
on the secondary toolbar, that should make it more obvious.
Also I wondered if it would be useful to make those tools "sub groups",
like in Open Office.org. This would work like the shape tool in
Sodipodi, so you hold and press to see other shapes. Only that it would
only show possible sub shapes of the appropriate tool (thus you would
never _have_ to use it, it would only change the shapes created by
default). A little arrow on the button could show that it contains sub
items (like in OO.o). This would make it more discoverable which shapes
each tool is capable to produce and another advantage would be, that you
could change your "default" shape to something you use more frequently.
OO.o provides the following sub shapes for the rect tool for example:
Rectangle, Square, Rectangle Rounded, Rounded Square and all of them in
an "unfilled" version.
This might give us added functionality at no cost. What do you think?
