Summary: Hebrew/Arabic RTL/bidi text is incurrectly reversed
Initial Comment:
inkscape 0.38, gentoo linux:
Althugh in the text preview box Hebrew text appears ok, in the
document itself it appears reversed (hello becomes olleh).
To repro:
* Open inkscape
* Dialogs-- text and fonts
* Choose a Hebrew font (for example, from the culmus fonts)
* OK
* In the document, choose the text tool
* Enter some Hebrew text
Actual result:
Text is reversed (hello becomes olleh)
Expected:
Text should be ok

This should now be fixed in CVS. If you could test the
latest snapshot and report the results it would be really

In my build, the left/right positions of the menus are
swapped, but this isn't so in your screen shot...

The Hebrew in other GTK apps (Gnumeric, gedit etc.) is ok-
Inkscape is worse in this regard then other gnome apps.

Interesting! Inkscape depends on the the GTK font libraries
to some degree, so I was wondering if other GTK applications
do this correctly? For example, gnumeric?
Since it previews incorrectly inside the font selector dialog, I
worry that the bug may be with GTK, which will be tricky to
fix. :)
