I think Bertrand was just pointing out that some phrases, particularly in
the showmenu sub in header.pl, are hardcoded in English, and so translation
requires hacking of header.pl, not just creating a language translation
file, such as fr.pl.
For instance, in the latest version of header.pl in CVS, v 1.7.2.20, sub
showmenu contains 'Home', 'Information', 'Dialup', 'Services', 'VPN's',
'Logs' and 'System'.
Suitable phrases already appear to be in the en.pl v1.5.2.10 file, eg:
'alt home' => 'Home', # alt
'alt information' => 'Information', # alt
'alt dialup' => 'Dialup', # alt
'alt remote access' => 'Remote Access', # alt
'alt services' => 'Services', # alt
'alt ids' => 'IDS', # alt
'alt vpn' => 'VPNs', # alt
'alt logs' => 'Logs', #alt
'alt shutdown' => 'Shutdown', # alt
'alt shell' => 'Shell', # alt
'alt updates' => 'Updates', # alt
So I think it should be easy to amend header.pl to include them.
However, I don't know about any other hardcoded phrases dotted through the
cgi code that need to be picked up. It would be useful if anybody could spot
them.
Finally, I know Bertrand and a team are working on French translations for
IPCop, so merci beaucoup Bertrand :)
