I dunno if this mail is delivered to the list, if it arrives twice,

;-) I like Gaim. You have done a really great work !!!
The babel on the net is concentrated on a "one stop shop".
This is solidarity and community. I like this, because communicating
over the internet is one of the greatest developments in this age.

This is a general sentence. See downloads.com, what users download are
instant messengers and Filesharing.
The users (customers want it). You speal of the overhead of bendwidth
searches cause. maybe, but there are servers to reduce this in edonkey,
there is the implemented GUESS-Proposal on Gnutella1 and there is a
General search for gnutella2.
The newest p2p-generation is made with HASH-Links, they are called
Magnet Uri or Bittorrent.
For the last one, you do not have any overhead of searches, because you
open up a network for each file, only in this special file interested
people are on this network
It is like a kind of a buddy list, so this is anothe reason to write
somethign about the community snse of buddylists.
All p2p-apps discuss on the boards any form of a COMMUNITY-Hub, this
means all people with interest in science fiction films are on this
The conclusion for a buddylist is: Why should Gaim not add a Chatroom,
if any p2p-app makes this possible in a decentral way ? And in the first
step: if you regard a buddylist, there is often as well
same-to-same-people on as well as a community.
All I want to say: there are similarities.

Of course anything new has pros and cons, IM should not be Kazaa. We
just decide over the possibility (if it is then made or allowed is
another thing, and if someone is doing it a third), so just give it room
to discuss. Don´t think balck-white in the first judgement. We are just
talking about as small test-plugin as apilot or a model. Maybe others of
gnutella like to join the plugin-team as well, why not ?

Each "REAL" APP like AIM ICQ etc, HAS already Files-swapping as Rob
mailed in one of his last mails.
Even the searching, and brwosing and downloading without permission is
enabled in ICQ ?
But maybe you are interested in reading somethign about the cons and
pros here ?
