This is not true. It works (at least) on ia32, ia64, athlon, PPC, sparc,
alpha and MIPS. It's 64-bit and endian-ordering clean.
So it is both cross-platform and cross OS.

GNU/Wine is not a good way to build a cross-platform cross-OS GUI.
Anyway, there are some other people who have expressed interest in doing
this, so I expect that on the time-scale of a few months we will see a GUI
