This is really a good time to discuss what the other developers think
about individual developers making their own releases. The ideal would
be to have one release manager to handle the releases and maintain
standards for packages (of which we currently have little). Do we have
a volunteer for that? I don't mind giving Artem release capability, but
I would like to strive to the ideal. If we have one release manager,
the individual developer could ftp the tarballs themselves to
upload.sf.net/incoming and let the release manager know that they are
there. This in turn requires eazy identification of a mingw tarball
release, i.e. imbedding mingw as part of the file names.
Artem, how did you configure the release? I.E. What were the switches
What is the toplevel directory structure for the tarball?
I would prefer the configure prefix to be --prefix=/mingw and the top
level binary reelase be mingw/. I also have a Mingw Contrib "package"
(in SF speak) that we will create the gdb "release" (in SF speak)
under. Therefore we don't have a lot of primary packages displayed.
What are other's opinions?
