You were right, gcc -v bring 4.0.3
That surprised me, because:
#> update-alternatives --display gcc
gcc - status is auto.
link currently points to /usr/bin/gcc-3.4
/usr/bin/gcc-3.4 - priority 25
/usr/bin/gcc-3.3 - priority 20
/usr/bin/gcc-3.2 - priority 15
/usr/bin/gcc-4.0 - priority 10
Current `best' version is /usr/bin/gcc-3.4.
but now, by checking further, I found a link /usr/bin/gcc=20
=2D> /usr/bin/gcc-4.0 bypassing the alternatives system.
