"Institutions can save money by adopting Open Source Software (OSS) standards.
So a Scoping Study conducted by the new JISC-funded pilot service, OSSWatch
reveals. 53 percent of Further Education institutions (FEIs), in response to
the Study, revealed 'cost as the most important reason for choosing OSS over
proprietary solutions.' The percentage was lower, but still significant for
Higher Education institutions (HEIs), at 25 percent."
