Some months ago I asked - more or less - exactly the same question,
and got a lot of help and answers.  See:

Finally, after following all hints, tweaking parms.lisp, and
recompiling sbcl quite often :), I could start up sbcl. But I had so
few memory inside my lisp-image, that I couldn't run any serious
application.

Now, I have rented a physical machine... ;)

Feeling less than clever, I found that thread a few minutes after

That would be something of a killer problem, yes.

You can try VPN under XEN instead of Virtuozzo. I have recently 
installed SBCL on my XEN VPN, and haven't experienced any problems so 
far. Though I've only run quite simple applications few times.
If you'll provide me with ready to run tests, I can try something
more serious.

Tried hunchentoot on this configuration. Example website from
hunchentoot distribution works fine.
