Saxon has been used with documents much larger than this, I believe.
There is no exact limit in Saxon itself, but it holds the entire input
document in memory. Allow something like 3-4 times the size of the
input document in real RAM, and make sure that you tell the JVM to use
it: e.g. for Sun JDK1.3 on Windows, see option -Xmx.
Also with documents this size try to avoid XPaths which imply large
traversals, such as //x and following::sibling - these can take a long
