I tried Zope for a few days as a way to present some development data for my own use. It has alot of functonality built in, but I found it to be
counter-intuitive just about every step of the way. I think it is probably overkill for alot of applications and for me at least, it wasn't worth
the learning curve. Apparently, the Zope people created a powerful tool that fit their methods of development and shared it for those that choose to
adapt to that model. I prefer simplicity and building on what I know.
