That means you've got more than one rosegardensequencer running - you 
won't be able to play anything through that  - well strictly you might 
get it look like it's working but it won't make any sound.

Ok, you've got no ALSA clients working on your system.  Have you got a 
soundcard plugged in?  What is it and what's your ALSA configuration?  
The OSS Sequencer device you're seeing isn't a valid target for RG - 
this is an ALSA configuration issue.

I have a VIA8235 soundcard with the AC'97 codec (built in on my Soltek SL-75FRV).
When I configured ALSA I did:
./configure --with-sequencer=yes --with-cards=via82xx,mpu401

I modprobe the modules in this order:
/sbin/modprobe snd-via82xx
/sbin/modprobe snd-pcm-oss
/sbin/modprobe snd-mixer-oss
/sbin/modprobe snd-seq-oss

The sound works fine.

I have also noticed that I can't cat /dev/midi,0,1, etc.. but when I run kernel 2.5.63 I can,  but the sound doesn't work. Right now im using 2.4.20.

Running the OSS compatibility MIDI stuff _can_ interfere with ALSA-aware =

apps.  It seems to be possible to get things to coexist, but it's fiddly.=

The best plan is to avoid loading snd-seq-oss entirely unless you have a =

compelling reason to fool with it.  I'd start with a=20

=09rmmod snd-seq-oss

Then I'd go looking at the distro's module configuration method and figur=
e out=20
how to stop loading that module at boot time.  (Debian uses modconf... =20
YMMV.)

See how far dumping that module gets you...
