First off, 1.0.7 is not the latest version at the moment, although it proba=
bly
would not be different for this issue.

What do you see if you run this?
   $ grep jump_to /usr/share/gramps/gramps.glade

Also, did you upgrade your gtk libraries recently?

We have been encountering some instability with the underlying database
(bsddb) that GRAMPS uses. It does not affect everyone, but we have not
been able to figure out what is causing the problem. The major problem
is that neither Alex nor I can seem to reproduce the problem. Without
being able to reproduce it, we cannot fix it. Other projects that use
bsddb seem to be encountering a similar problem.

So, until further notice, our recommendation is to:

1) If you do not have an XML backup, export your database to XML.
2) Under Preferences, disable the "Enable Database Transactions"
3) Create a new DB, and import the backup XML

Disabling database transactions should prevent the problem from
occurring.

I just updated my Gramps version.

I am running on Kubuntu 6.10.

The exporting to a gpkg file does not seem to work.  That 
is, the gpkg is not usable afterwards.

This is a very bad situation, given that this is really the 
only way to backup the database.

Wayne,

For now, either rename the gpkg file or remove
the /home/wb/genealogy/TWDT.gpkg.media directory
before importing from gpkg. See if this works.

If it does, then the only problem is cleaning
up the already existing TWDT.gpkg.media directory
left over from the previous import before the new
import. If I could reproduce this issue I should
be able to fix it in the next release.

The gpkg is nothing but a tarball with the xml
data file and copies of all media object files.
The thing is unpacked in filename.gpkg.media
and then imported from there using local media
paths. You can test gpkg file or unpack it
to any other directory as any tarball.
List files:
   $ tar tzf filename.gpkg
Unpack:
   $ tar xzf filename.gpkg

If everything is OK in the tarball then the problem
is just the temp dir cleanup. Let me know if this is it.

You have a family with a father, which is not present in the database.

Run from the tools menu the repair function: Check and repair database.
It should remove the unexisting father from the family.

Take a backup of your data as xml (.gramps) before running the tool.
Note that double gramps ids can lead to many problems, normally GRAMPS
forces them to be unique, no idea how it is possible that that is not the
case on your data.

Know that version 2.2.9 is out.

This occurred when I tried to delete the image associated with an 
individual. 
I couldn't find any way  to make the deletion, so I deleted the image on 
the "media" page.
