Ahah. I had :pserver:mccane@.... Not sure why I had that, but the ext
works. Ta. So those sources are now added to the source tree.

There is a good explanation of gcc-2.96, the mystery release, at http://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-2.96.html.
Basically, there was no 2.96 release, but some distributors grabbed a development snapshot and called
it 2.96.

Sure, go ahaid.  If there would be minor problems with respect to current vxl,
they will get fixed soon (and you can find out about possible problems by
looking at the dashboard).
