This is the wrong forum to post a question such as this, as it relates to gVim, but then again, it probably doesn't. You'll see what I mean. I'm on an unstable Debian system.
I like to use the -misc-fixed- font for terminal and editor work. All GTK 2.0 apps that I've installed had difficulty dealing with the font. For gnome-terminal I had to go through some configuration files (now lost in the mist of time) to change it. Recently I installed the new gVim, which uses GTK 2. Great, but I'm the Fixed font that appears in the font list is different from the ye oldie -misc-fixed- I'm used to.
Any idea on what's happening?
I'm not a newbie particularly, but I never did figure out the whole font business on GNU/Linux.
