I don't think so. One of the reasons I want to do the release soon, is
to get it out of the way before the merge of the stm8 port. We can
merge the port when nearly all regression tests pass. That will still
take some work, as we currently can't even run them the way they are
meant to be run. And before the release we need a freeze period, which
IMO can be short now, but would have to be longer directly after a merge.
Also, while I want to merge the port once we pass nearly all
regression tests, work on the port should continue at the current pace
for some time: There will be bugs found once there are users, I want
to work on generating more efficient code in code generation, we'll
want to implement the peephole optimizer, etc.
The best time to merge a branch like the stm8 port (or like the lospre
and smallopts branch about a year ago) IMO is a few weeks after a
release to about a few months before a release.
