GSM MAP (TS 29.002) itself is 900+ pages, and it is useless to rely that yate implements everything.
To my mind, the proper approach is to get an idea
- what to support (ea a list of procedures)
- how to support (ea how to reflect it to the system in hand)
Regardless yate or whatever else, it is worth having an idea how it works. That was the reason to invite you to read GSM MAP together and to fix a common vision.

As for SIP Register, not sure now. But sooner or later it should deal with triplets, and it needs to request them (at least in order to meet standards .. if we need to follow them.. we could re-use initial set..) from an external HLR/AuC to serve foreign subscribers. The fact is that it unites both HLR and VLR functionality, and it should be carefully studied how to expose it to the outer world as HLR (for outgoing roaming) and VLR (for incoming). Might be also worth thinking about Diameter Cx/Dx.. Again, too early to discuss. And ideas are welcomed.
