Thanks for pointing this out, and sorry for the confusion. The problem you encountered was a side effect of this JIRA ticket:
I have updated all of the install documentation for VuFind 1.x to reflect the need to edit import.properties.
The automatic install process for VuFind 2.0 takes care of this problem automatically. I do not plan to spend time updating the 1.x installer to fix this there, though if somebody wants to submit a patch to JIRA, I will be happy to commit it. Probably not worth the trouble, though -- we're nearly done with the 1.x line.
