Were you building 578362575fc2112b828597cc1025e3ead43d43ba (Fix threads on Darwin 10.8)? I didn't have any problem with the same patch (modulo aesthetic changes) on 10.6, and I only have rare, nondeterministic, failures on 10.8 with HEAD. If the patch is that broken on 10.7, I'll probably revert it.
Which reminds me: I forgot to update NEWS for that change. I think it's newsworthy, but we can always fold that in the release commit, if we don't revert it.
