Just tried a clean build using the sources from git on 12.04, no
problem here. Are you using git or released sources? After an upgrade,
you may also need to clean out your build tree.

I'm using the aqsis package provided with Ubuntu.

    IIRC that one comes from Debian, so let me see what's going on.

That'd be great.  I don't know if this is related, but I figured if I
were missing libs, I'd try adding additional aqsis libraries in that
directory I hadn't needed before, but that starting listing additional
missing functions when I tried compiling.
