a SocketStream is always binary, so you don't have to set a special
flag and you don't need a special BinarySocketStream.
The only thing that text fstreams do is convert LFs to CR-LFs when
writing (and vice versa when reading) on Windows. On Unix platforms,
there is no difference between text and binary stream modes.
