Uarghh, this is definitely nasty. I am not happy with rebuilding my
apache server outside debian's system. I just tried to build
libapache2-mod-perl2 from debian source, but I did not succeed (it
waited on the server (?) ...). In case I build my apache, I will end up
with packages that are incompatible with the debian-apache-system. To
keep my debian system I have to convert the compiled server to debian
packages, which is not far from rebuilding the whole debian-apache
system. This will take me days .... and I would actually build a
competing apache-debian-system - perhaps the debian guys are better than
I am! Probably, I will end up with ruined webserver. In short,
installing slash requires that start up a new webserver.
A better solution seems to be to fix the bugs in debians mod_perl. But,
I am not able to do this since my perl-knowledge is meager.

I have followed it quite carefully.

Indeed!
