Connection at the same time: not possible, it will corrupt the data sooner
or later. There is soft lock in the family tree manager to prevent it.
Theoretically it is possible by changing the gramps infrastructure, but it
would be a lot of work. We focus on gramps-connect subproject to offer this.
Connection from different computers: possible but not supported. You need
for safety computers with same OS and same gramps version. In the
preferences, you can set the database path to a shared position.
You can use:
1/ a NFS share on linux
2/ dropbox
3/ a samba (windows) share you can mount in the normal filesystem (eg with
linux mount with cifs ans for windows I suppose assigning a drive letter for
the network drive would work)
Like this, multiple computers work on the same family tree.
This is not supported because people must be very aware of what they do,
that is, doing wrong actions can destroy your data. Backup the database
location regularly for safety!
