Do you even have /bin/ed (the standard text editor) installed? (And I
seem to recall some changes to this test to deal with different
versions of ed on different platforms, but don't recall when.)
Alternately, try (cd tests && sh ./run-tests.sh
run-program.impure.lisp) and search for the bit about RUN-PROGRAM-ED
in the output, it may give some clues.

Yeah, it takes just as long to build on my Atom N450 (built this year)
as it does on my PPC (built several years ago).

... not having ed installed? Not exactly common.
Really, though, that's not a horrible test result: You have /one/
unexpected failing test, in a fairly out-of-the-way part of the system
(run-program). That shouldn't affect much of what you in lisp unless
you're running an X desktop environment in it or something.
