When I try to install them using Gslapt, it refuses complaining that
glibc-solibs is missing. glibc-solibs is marked as "excluded - not
installed", and when installing Filezilla anyway, it will not run. The
glibc package is installed, maybe I should reinstall it?

I have Salix 13.1 on two computers, it is the same on both.

Those packages are not part of the salix repositories, so there is no way
anyone here would know where you're trying to get them from. You should read
this entry in our FAQ concerning that matter:

What I can tell you for certain, is that whoever created that repository
you're trying to use, didn't do a very good job with dependencies.

Repository for the glibc
http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/slackware/slackware-13.1
This is preset in Gslapt, but not in the sources list, should I add it
there as "official" (which is says in the information for the files)

And fltk I tried to get from; http://repository.slacky.eu/slackware-13.1

Is it a better idea to just download the source and compile whatever I
want?

Once again: you don't need glibc-solibs. If you still want to install it
anyway, go ahead and do it. Nothing bad will happen, you will just have an
extra package in your system.

Their deps are not ok, as the first package in their PACKAGES.TXT shows:

I tried Filezilla again, it worked (after adding Wx-libraries). I tried
Abiword from enialis.net, gslapt protests about the solibs again, even
though they are there, somewhere.

Is http://slackware.org.uk/slacky/slackware-13.1/ a better place than
slacky.eu?

You are right! I mistook two entries. The problem seems to be that if
something demands glibc-solibs, gslapt reports it as not present,
because they are installed together with the rest of the glibc libs. So
now that I know that, it is no problem for me any longer, maybe it
could be a problem for someone else sometime.

I thought it would be, so I got the stable version of fltk and compiled
it without any problem.

Apart from the confusion with the solibs, Salix is the ideal, just to
put in a CD, after a few minutes I have Linux with nearly every program
I want to have installed, and it all works (even with Intel graphics
and sound card!!!). That is very nice!

Not if our repository is used. In our repo all packages have the right 
dependency, which is "glibc OR glibc-solibs" has to be installed.

gslapt does not care about actually installed files, it only checks for 
installed packages. It's impossible to do this in another way.

The confusion is caused by non Salix/Slackware repos ;)
