You made a good catch/report, something was missing but you are trying to reproduce this (I do not know how) :

Agreed, both seems to be related, I will rather say that fix has highlighted something else : cannot modify event on person event embed list if we have only one person on family.
Maybe the right way will be to file a bug report with description, a test case database, steps to reproduce it, and a link to "Error when editing family event" #3761
