I have tried the same thing as Arvind, with the same results.
Also, I tried the following command, specifying the firmware files that
appear to be used when the system boots:
modprobe libertas_sdio fw_name="/lib/firmware/sd8686.bin"
This also fails, and produces the messages:

libertas_sdio: probe of mmc1:0001:1 failed with error -110
