I think the only problem is deciding on the "main" spelling of the
place. Alternate spellings - and indeed alternate names altogether-
can be added to the "Alternate Location" tab in the Place editor. I do
this sometimes for variations in spelling.
As I said, the "main" name will always be the same, but the variations
will be recorded... another matter is the support that reports or
other applications give to this, the Narrative Web-site doesn't appear
to display alternate locations, plus they are not as easily searchable
as place names.
