In mandriva 2009.1 beta things started working at least with tmb kernels
once I added to /etc/modprobe.conf this line:
options lirc_imon display_type=1
[root@... modules]# modinfo 2.6.29-0.rc8.3.1lamikr/misc/lirc_imon.ko
vermagic: 2.6.29-0.rc8.3.1lamikr SMP mod_unload modversions
parm: debug:Debug messages: 0=no, 1=yes(default: no) (int)
