I hope someone from the get-e team will reply to this offer of help!
I've been in contact with Haga-san off-list and have no doubt he'd do a fin=
job for the translation. He already maintains his own website in Japanese
about e, and if I'm not mistaken he's been following e for quite some time
(correct me if I'm wrong, Haga-san (^_^)).
Also, regarding translation, I previously tried doing the japanese user
guide translation myself but the guide changed so often that it was quite
hard to track what parts of the english guide without reading and comparing
line by line with the japanese version. Couple this with a lot of overtime
at work for a couple of weeks and suddenly my translation was about 50% out
of date already (not to mention Japanese being my 2nd language).
I imagine that other people trying to maintain translations must also find
this difficult. My feeling is that if the base english version were under
version control it would make the task of maintaining translations easier,
as the translator would then be able to compare revisions for the changes. =
tried to do this myself, but even this was a hassle due to text formatting
Of course, this would mean more work for the english user guide maintainers=
but then I think there is a trade-off between flexibility for the english
guide maintainer and the work load for all the translators who have to
follow around afterwards.
That's just my two yen anyway (^_^)
