I built lirc-0.8.3pre3 and it has the same issue. Specifically if I run
irw and hit an apple remote key I get the right report. If I then run a
non-apple remote key, I get the previous apple key report. No report for
the non-apple remote occurs if invoked prior to the first apple key
This behavior occurs on both 0.8.3pre3 and the binary that comes with
Hardy Heron which is 0.8.3pre1.
This behavior does not occur on 0.8.2 which is what came with Gutsy. irw
only gives reports of the apple remote keys.
