I do understand this up to a point: those proclamations would inhibit
the tail call in the constant-fopcompilable check. Are you perhaps
calling make.sh with an explicit SB_XC_HOST, rather than simply
running "./make.sh"? The default is not to use any initialization
files, so that
sets up the cross-compiler host to be an sbcl with /dev/null for both
its initialization files; on the other hand,
(or similar) will use just "sbcl" as the command to run. My advice:
only use the second form if you know what you're doing.
