I'd rather wait for the jythonc than use the existing solutions given.
Why? Because the current methods require users to either install ant,
or the jars end up being run with a batch file (in windows) which is
not desirable, or mess with the classpath, or end up with jar files
that require extra parameters such as "java -jar somejar somepyfile"
or "java org.python.util.jython -jar myapp.jar". With jythonc back
then, any casual jython "coder" can just jythonc -jar and they end up
with a jar that an end-user simply double-clicks to run. While the
current methods of jar'ing jython scripts may be ok for the developer,
in my humble opinion, I don't think the finished product would be
something that end-users (those ppl who want to run desktop apps)
would want to have.
So I'll just wait for Jython 2.5 and hope that the -jar functionality
is restored properly. Just my two cents....
