If your custom image doesn't have a custom kernel (or kernel config)
then there isn't
any reason for the kernel and modules to be replaced assuming they
we're built as
part of a previous image build.

To force a rebuild I think running 'bitbake -c clean gumstix-kernel'
will clean the
kernel so it will get rebuilt the next time you build your image.
