Thanks for the suggestion, write protecting the boot floppy is a great idea.
I'll add it to the documentation.
Removing the logon banners is a good idea to avoid giving people information
they could possibly use to figure out how to break into the system. However
in our case with only a single root user by the time an intruder sees the banner
he's already in. Additionally theWall is really just some build scripts for
FreeBSD, I really don't want to modify the FreeBSD release sources for a number
of reasons, not the least of which is the amount of work it would take to track
There are a *lot* of additions that would be nice to have, the biggest problem
is that there's almost no space left on the floppy as is. Snort, etc will have
to wait for a bootable CD or compact flash version of theWall.
