Forgot to answer the first question....
The works consists of looking at each message and deciding whether your
going to allow it, reject it or discard it.
Now there are some posts that have size limits so you'd explicity have
to allow/deny them. The rest are generally spam, so you just discard them.
I've been a bit slack with it recently, so the numbers of posts have just
been sitting there. You get daily reminders of how many are in the queue
waiting for your attention too. But to be managed properly you need to
tend to them on a daily basis.
