I agree, the new keyboard handling is still in its experimental phase.
Unfortunately, many of the problems people are having do not reproduce
under Linux, and that is the main platform that both I and Xuan Balduf
(the author of the simplified keyboard handling) use.
What we need is someone who develops on the windows platform and has
some good debugging skills to fix the issues with the simplified
keyboard handling so that we can remove the old keyboard handling from
jedit. Xuan claims he's very much swamped these days. I tried to do
some debugging under windows but found that I needed 2 screens for
that.
