This well known. If you have more than one network card and use events, the
server will hang. This happens on all OS's and FB/IB versions AFAIK.
A very simlar thing happens if you are running a Firewall on the same
machine, as for each registered event, FB opens, what seems to be, a random
port with the client app.

The only 'end user' solution in my experience is to physically remove the
NIC's, which is going to be a problem if yours are on board. And make sure
all Firewall software is turned off.
