You can implement your own pseudo-random number generator. The MSVCRT
one, for instance, is two lines of code. Do a Google search, I bet
there are quite a few pseudo-random generators out there ready to use,
and explanations about how they work and the various trade-offs and
properties of the algorithms. See chapter 7 of "Numerical Recipes in
C", for instance:
(Note the copyright notice. I think you can't copy the algorithms to
your programs unless you purchase the library, although the
explanations should be enough to roll your own code in case you don't
need something very specific).
