that's pretty amazing, given that a few weeks ago, they were selling 
at the same site for $629.  can anyone confirm that this is a legit 
price?  last i looked, amazon was advertising used 6000s for cheap, 
but when you read carefully, they didn't have any available.  which 
makes the great offer price kind of irrelevant.

apparently, this price is legit.  since i bought mine only 3 weeks ago 
for their previous listed price of $629, i emailed amazon customer 
service, pointing out that i had the right to return my current unit 
and buy the same thing at the cheaper price.  or, hey, they could just 
refund the difference.

within an hour, i got an email back, stating that they were refunding 
the difference to my credit card.  awesome.  at that price, i might 
just buy another one. :-)

What does the "L" as in "6000L" indicate?
Haven't I seen mention (maybe in other forums) of other models, like a "W".
just curious...
that price does seem pretty fantastic.


p.s. list-boss, why isn't the reply-to set to the list address. It's a
pain having to remember to route replies proplerly (I don't think it's

model coming out soon and a frantic race to clear inventory.  anyone

I guess this adds fuel to the rumor that their releasing a new model in
a week or so. In Japan?

All I know is the same price drop happened with the SL-5500 just a month after 
I bought mine at best buy - three months after my purchase, Best Buy had 
cleared all stock and refused any questions re: support...bummer. Oh well - I 
still have my collie and still using it strong today over 2 years later, 
thanks in a large part to the very active online Zaurus community.

AFAIR there was going to be a wifi, wifi-bt, bt and no wireless models,
however I only ever saw the wifi version. (admittedly I didn't research
this much...)

It's quite simple.  Someone sends an email to the list with thier own
reply to field set so they receive emails at an address other than the
one they sent it from.  The mailing list then receives the message
managles that header replacing it with its own address.  The the only
way to contact that person off the list is by sending an email to an
address that might not accept emails or get checked by the sender.  Here
are a few rules that you should get used to when using Mailing list in
the Linux community.

Most list won't mangle headers (because mangling in anyway is bad form,
let the mail client handle that stuff.)

You should bottom post.  Meaning your reply should go under the text of
the person you are replying to.  It so much easier to go back over the
reply when its in order in stead of reverse order.

Don't use the Reply (and remove all the previous text) to send a new
message to the list.  Instead create a new message and put the email
address in there yourself.  Some users make use of threading headers and
you message even though unrelated will show up as part of another
thread.

AFAIK, that was the only model (SL-6000L) that was ever made available
in the US.

I wonder if anyone working on Thunderbird knows this? I've mentioned the 
issue a few times on the relevant forums, but apart from other users
