I have installed Miktex 2.5 since the beta versions and found no
problems with either pfg or beamer packages. Sometimes a problem
appears when you have two versions of the packages and Miktex finds
first the older one. Are the problems related to colors? Did you
updated the xcolor package? Did you installed the beamer package from
the Miktex distribution? I find that a manual installation of the sourcefor=
ge files are not
always the best solution.

I tried in the past several packages: foiltex, seminar, pdfscreen, and
even texpower, this one being the best at that time, but at the
present I find Beamer the most powerful, best documented and easiest
to use, so I wouldn't recommend you any other one, but you can check
